Yessenia Carreon: Somebody wants to see your "boring" life - just post it!

If you’ve ever thought, “My life is too normal to post online,” this episode will gently grab you by the shoulders and say, girl, no. Ilse sits down with actor, creator, and certified Chicago icon Yessenia Carreon, whose TikTok journey started with a layoff, a pandemic, and a video about sugar that accidentally outraged the internet.

They talk about everything from building a media company from scratch, to becoming a one–woman creative machine, to the weird psychology of virality and imposter syndrome. Yessenia breaks down how she edits, when she posts, why consistency matters more than perfection, and why the videos you spend two minutes on always outperform the videos you spend two hours on.

If you’ve been meaning to start posting — or if you just want someone to tell you you’re not “too late” or “too boring” — this conversation feels like a permission slip and a pep talk rolled into one.

Follow Yessenia on TikTok and IG @yesseniacarreon_ and get your daily dose of Latina mom realness, book reviews, and good energy.
